Abstract painting "Wo Schatten, da Licht" by Victoria Wittmer.

Wo Schatten, da Licht

Acrylic on canvas · 22.5 × 22.5 cm · 2025

Original Artwork

The inseparable relationship between shadow and light unfolds within an abstract composition in which shadow does not appear as an opposing force but as a necessary presence through which light becomes perceptible.

Contrasts, colour fields and linear elements create a tension between revelation and concealment, as edges cut through the pictorial space and guide the viewer’s gaze beyond the visible surface. The work invites an understanding of seeing as an active process, where perception emerges through difference rather than representation.
